Blackburn Is Open

We have been a ‘leader’ in the community-led initiative Blackburn Is Open, which will revitalise Blackburn’s independent retail in the town centre, boost its economy and reinstate the town’s once thriving creative spirit. There is discounted retail space for designer-makers and craftspeople, a temporary cinema, and a whole programme of events, including festivals and markets.

Our very own Wayne Hemingway is creative director of the scheme; “I was brought up in Blackburn and the town helped to give me a stimulating and happy start in life. I am working with Blackburn Council and the very talented and diligent Claire Tymon, Cultural planner, and we have come up with this manifesto. We are going to work our socks off to deliver it.”

This was our manifesto.
