Creative direction and design for Southbank Centre’s Festival of Love, a celebration to mark the 2014 Same Sex Couple Act allowing same sex marriage.

HemingwayDesign led on the creative direction and design of the ‘What Love Is’ exhibition in Queen Elizabeth Hall. The focus of the exhibition installation were giant totems exploring seven different types of human love as given to us by the Greeks, including family love (storge), love of humanity (agape), sexual love (eros) and self-love (philantia). Each variety of love included illuminating quotes from philosopher Roman Krznaric, and videos from spiritual thinker Jiddu Krishnamurti talking about the relationship between love and loneliness.

The installation was completed by Lothar Götz with ‘I Have A Dream’ – a commission incorporating the seven colours of love in an acetate applied to the windows of Queen Elizabeth Hall.

HemingwayDesign also produced additional graphic and illustration for the festival map, and site wayfinding.
