The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Party

A Right Royal (and Rainy) Knees-Up in Battersea Park
Type: Placemaking & Events
Date: 2012

We were honoured to have been invited to co-curate the official party for The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Pageant on 3rd June 2012 in Battersea Park.

The event was a 60,000 sell-out with tickets changing hands for over 40 times their £5 face value. Despite an unseasonably chilly and very wet June day, the atmosphere was truly celebratory and left us all feeling very proud to have played such an important role in a historic event – and even if we say so ourselves, pulled it off with aplomb!

Crowds enjoyed swing dancing to a jazz band, and visited our fairground rides, and Bad Art School led portrait workshops with a lookalike standing in for Her Majesty. There were plenty of vintage stalls to peruse and many took the opportunity to have glamorous vintage makeovers! Classic vehicles dotted the site and when the heavens opened the crowd danced under their umbrellas to Norman Jay.
