HemingwayDesign, NEW Masterplanning, Urban Movement and Avison Young have been working on a vision for Kidderminster town centre. We saw an overriding sense of individual sites and projects being addressed but without the guiding vision of what sort of town centre Kidderminster wanted to be.
We believe Kidderminster needs to change its branding from ‘accessibility and plenty of parking’ to a town based on experiences, independent and local retail offer and distinctive heritage and waterfront. We undertook an online survey that was received very positively by the public and had over 1853 responses.
Outcomes from the survey show that local residents would like to see more independent shops, cafes and restaurants, access to the river and canal, and better space for outdoor and cultural events. You can download the full report here.
We will also carried out a series of digital stakeholder workshops, in order to inform our work and reinforce business and community support for the vision.
